I am bothered by this story
Check this out. According to this article, McDonald's plans on restyling itself after an I-Pod. Nothing against I-pods, but the familiar is one of the good things about McDonald's. Nerp!

Wow, this revamping seems to go against the whole fast-food mentality and marketing strategy. I remember reading (years ago) that they have uncomfortable plastic seating on purpose (along with annoying elevator-type music) because they don't *want* you to sink in, get comfy, and stay a long time; the whole idea behind fast food is a high volume of customers coming and going rapidly. If one set sits and stays, there's no room for the next set, so it's herd 'em in, herd 'em out. It's "fast"! So this is quite interesting to me. It seems like they are trying to re-define the idea of fast food. Of course, they've been under attack a lot lately, what with "Supersize Me" and before that _Fast Food Nation_... maybe they think it's necessary to remake themselves at this point. Hrmm.
