Cameron Crowe isn't allowed to "say anything" anymore
While others might say that John Hugh represented Gen X youth, I have staunchly been a fan of Cameron's work. In fact, I have a poster of "Say Anything" in my bedroom. When I look back his movies, I realize that there were always quirky characters, quirky dialogue, but otherwise fairly mainstream genre appropriate. Like Hugh's work, what has made Crowe such a voice for a generation is it predictability, at least in sentiment. His movies supposed to make us feel warm and fuzzy--and familiar.
Well, he decided to go the odd director route forcing beyond cute characters into the self-indulgent parade of oddballs. This movie is a romantic comedy, it is built on the idea of the woman forgiving or accepting of the man's fuilures. The movie setup is familiar --it is just a really bad Cameron Crowe movie.
Thank god he is married to Nancy Wilson, who packs the movie with so much good movie, as my husband noted--close your eyes, and the movie is a pretty cool mix-tape, but, that is about all.

Hi! What movie are you talking about in this post? I don't think you included the title. (Unless you are talking about _Say Anything_, but I didn't think you were.)
Oh-I forgot to mention that...It was Elizabethtown...it came out awhile ago, earlier this year, but I saw it on cable recently. It has Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst in it.
